Hello!

Thanks for being interested in me and what I'm up to, and welcome.

My vision for this page is to continue to post general updates on my books, projects, workshops, camps, plans, etc. And, I've added some new and out-of-the-ordinary links at the bottom of my links page.

where to go for more information on my work

Lowry House Publishers
publishes 3 of my 4 books:

The Teenage Liberation Handbook: how to quit school and get a real life and education
Real Lives: eleven teenagers who don't go to school tell their own stories, and
Freedom Challenge: African American Homeschoolers

The site contains book excerpts and photos, a secure internet shopping site for books and unschooling T-shirts, information on quantity discounts and information for bookstores/wholesalers/catalogers, etc.

Guerrilla Learning: how to give your kids a real education with or without school, which I co-authored with Amy Silver, is published by John Wiley and sons. But you can read more about it, and buy a copy, at the Lowry House website.

Bellydance By Inanna
is my bellydance site, which includes my performance calendar (I haven't been updating it for a long time though), photos, essays, and such, and may eventually include great links and bellydance resource info.

If you're interested in attending, working at, or otherwise learning about
Not Back to School Camp
,
you'll find it all here

Camp dates for 2007 are

Oregon Session 1, August 20-27
Oregon Session 2, August 30-September 6
Vermont, September 14-21

ampers say:

"The atmosphere surrounding a big group of unschoolers like this is the most life-giving energy I have ever experienced, and I've become addicted to it! Ever since camp, which I left with the determination to incorporate this energy into everything I do, I've been enjoying life much more. I've felt more free, more passionate, and happier with life!"

"See, it's like this. . . .you go to camp, your life changes. Drastically. It's that simple."

"NBTSC is the only place where I have met so many totally inspiring, giving, caring people in one week--let alone people my one age. As soon as I got off the bus, all these people came up and hugged me--that's completely the spirit of NBTSC. Another thing that deeply impressed and delighted me was the fact that I didn't hear a single negative remark or put-down about another person the entire week! Instead everyone was constantly building each other up and helping one another out. I’m just sad I didn’t find out about camp sooner."

If you're interested in a great idea I had that went comatose, click here. I envisioned a project called The Dream House, which would have been a residential house for unschooled teenagers in Oakland, California. It's not going to be a dream come true in the forseeable future, because we never got enough people registered to make a session go. (The main problems seemed to be affordability and parents' understandable nervousness about sending their kids away for 10 weeks at a time, particularly to a big city.) But, I've left the website up because a lot of people have said that it inspired them to consider trying similar  projects.

For my bio, go here. (Bios are an odd phenomena. I used to think, since they were always written in the third person, that they were also written by a third ~ or at least another ~ person. But such is rarely the case. Anyway....)

Wishing you peace, chocolate, friendship, and other great adventures,
Grace Llewellyn

And one more thing! This website is hosted by some very smart, sweet, websavvy Not Back to School Camp alumni. They offer excellent rates on hosting, and also provide web design and network consulting. I highly recommend them! You can contact them at design@nbtsc.org. (They did not design my website, by the way. I know it's not very professional and I wouldn't want them to be blamed for it.)
